Library Policies: Copyright

Copyright

COPYRIGHT

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, U.S. Code) governs the making of photocopies or any other reproductions of copyrighted materials.  Copyright laws also permit users of copyrighted works to make fair use of copyrighted materials under some limited circumstances.

It is the policy of Forefront’s Board of Directors to respect the copyright privilege of individuals and to uphold the law with regard to copyrights. The Board of Directors is not responsible for individual patrons who knowingly, or unknowingly, reproduce materials in violation of the copyright laws.  It is the user's responsibility to guard against the infringement of rights that may be held by others and for clearing reproduction rights and copyright restrictions.

The Board directs the Library Services Manager to post a notice of responsibilities under copyright law by photocopiers and to provide additional resources about copyright and fair use to Library patrons through the availability of online or print reference resources.
