Professional Membership Associations

Joining a professional association is a great way to network, find support, and collaborate with others to advance the success of the profession. While professional associations typically charge membership dues for access to premiere programming and services, there are usually other resources that are freely accessible such as job lists, recorded webinars, and newsletters. A selection of social sector membership organizations are listed below. 

Forefront
Among Forefront's many resources are sector-specific webinars and networking opportunities offered every month. Members of Forefront and the wider community are able to attend sessions on a wide array of topics. You can register for events on Forefront's calendar.

Chicago African Americans in Philanthropy
Chicago African Americans in Philanthropy (CAAIP) is a membership organization committed to achieving racial equity in philanthropy through advocating for investments in the Black community and expanding Black leadership opportunities in the social sector. CAAIP membership is open to those at any stage in their career and seeks to help sector professionals grow their careers and communities. Social events, professional development programming, and workforce opportunities are all perks of membership.

Chicago Women in Philanthropy
Chicago Women in Philanthropy is a community of women working in philanthropy and nonprofit settings. They are a volunteer driven organization that works together to create professional development opportunities and other programs to help empower Chicagoland women. Membership benefits include networking opportunities with diverse women working at Chicago nonprofits, discounts to events and workshops, and access to CWIP's research women's and girl's issues in the sector.

 Young Nonprofit Professionals Network
The Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN) engages emerging nonprofit leaders through connecting them with resources, people, and ideas. They are committed to building a diverse and powerful social sector through improving the abilities of young nonprofit professionals. They are a grassroots network with local chapters in 39 cities across North America.

Association of Consultants to Nonprofits
The Association of Consultants to Nonprofits (ACN) is a community that seeks to help nonprofit consultants grow their business through connecting them to peers, prospective clients, and offering expertise on a wide range of nonprofit and philanthropic topics. ACN offers three membership rates, including discounts for Forefront members, with different perks for each level of membership.
