Family offices are experiencing a surge in popularity, however, this is not a new trend: family offices date back to 15th century Italy. The Uffizi (which means "office" in Italian) in Florence, completed in 1581 for the Medici family, is considered the world’s first family office, serving as the administrative and financial hub of their banking and political empire.*
